Recognizing Credits from your Stay Abroad
1. The recognition of credits needs to take place in the semester following your stay abroad.
2. An essential requirement for us to recognize any credits from a foreign university is the North America content of the classes you attended abroad.
3. After your return to LMU, you need to register your stay in LSF, as PAGS describes it here (only German). Please print the proof of registration from LSF.
4. Find out the exam number for the module for which you wish to have credit recognized from your courses abroad.
You will find these numbers in the “rules and regulations” of your program (“Prüfungsordnung” – only available in German). Be sure to use the version relevant to your studies, depending on your year of entry into the program. “Anlage 2” in the “rules and regulations” will help you find the correct module numbers. You can find the“Prüfungsordnungen” under "Application Form".
Please make sure that your classes should be roughly equivalent with regards to the requirements (essays, exams etc., but also length, e.g. 1,5 hours/week for 15 weeks).
5. Write a list with the following information on the courses for which you wish to have credit recognized:
- Title of the course abroad
- How often did the course take place?
- Requirements you fulfilled, scope of the requirements
- Grades
- Exam number of the module at LMU for which the course abroad is to be recognized (from the “Anlage 2, Prüfungsordnung”)
6. Print the application form “Antrag auf Anerkennung studienbegleitender Prüfungsleistungen” which PAGS provides (in German only).
7. Fill in only the upper part of the application form (name etc.).
8. Send an email to Dr. Nadine Klopfer for an appointment or drop by her office hours. Please bring the following documents:
- Print out from LSF, list of courses
- printed application form
- your transcript of records from the foreign university (original and one copy)
